Aja unbuttoned her uniform jacket. Rob helped her remove it. She draped it over the back of a chair. She stood in her khaki flight pants and regulation sleeveless T-shirt. Robert stared at her as if she were clad in silk and pearls.
“I’ve missed you, Aja.”
“I’ve missed you too, Bobby.”
“You lost weight,” he said, measuring her waist with his hands. “What do they feed you in the Army?”
“Now you sound like my mother.”
“I’m not your mama, but I’ll be your daddy.” He leaned over to kiss her once more.
The intercom whistled again and Bo’s face reappeared. “Sis, dinner.”
“On my way.” She tried to keep the irritation from her voice, but failed.
Bo smirked and clicked off.
“There’s clothing in the closet that will fit you nicely.” Robert murmured. “I’ll give you a minute.”
Dark Moon held Bobby’s hand. “It’s good to see you, Bobby. Maybe after dinner….”
He rubbed his nose, a nervous gesture she remembered from their childhood. “Yeah, count on it.” He departed quickly.
