Natasha cleaned up the kitchen and gathered the dirty clothing. She carried the clothes to the washing machine in the basement. The men were examining the furnace with annoyance.
“What’s wrong with it?” she asked once the laundry was in the washer.
“That’s hard to say,” her uncle replied, scratching his head. “We’ve checked it from top to bottom and can’t find a damn thing wrong.”
“Did you check the breaker switch?”
The men exchanged a guilty look. Kolya walked to the breaker box over the drier. The switch for the furnace was off. Blushing a deep red, he flipped the switch and the furnace came on with a clatter and bang. Natasha started the laundry with a smirk.
“She’s going to be insufferable all day,” Kolya complained. “Just like her mother, she’s awful when she’s right.”
