“Andreus, but folks call me Ax.”
She waited, silently demanding an explanation.
“Middle name is Xenos. A.X.—Ax.”
Zenobia slipped down her dark glasses and winked. “Boy, your parents did the whole number on you, didn’t they?”
He laughed again, nodding.
“So, am I free to go?”
“Yup.” Ax walked away, only to hesitate. He turned to face her. “I stopped you for another reason,” he admitted shyly. “I really wanted your name.” He held up his notepad, grinning.
