Lionel Pettigrew is one of my most unique and interesting characters. Highly intelligent, he’s the epitome of the absent minded professor. When he first meets Arista Lockhart, he comes across as a brain damaged moron, babbling and forgetful. In his defense, it’s been a hell of a day and he wasn’t expecting her to be sitting in his office. Beautiful and poised, she seems to shine a bright light on his own social lack. He does, however, have the wherewithal to invite her to have a cup of organic coffee.
“You a vegan?” Arista asked.
“No.” He looked puzzled, then his frown cleared. “No. I don’t trust the crap they put in coffee. Never know where it’s been.”
“Organic is grown in manure,” she said politely.
“But at least we know where that’s been.” He laughed rather awkwardly.
