In the last episode Cassandra Fenetti killed mob boss Armand Amatorè in retaliation for the murder of her father. Now a marked woman, Cassie has to figure out the next move before the Cosimo family hunts her down.
With her hands still shaking, Cassandra packed her bags in a frenzy, throwing whatever she could grab into the totes. As she was zipping up, her cell rang, causing her heart to stop. Instead of answering it, she just threw it into the waste basket next to her dresser. It had a GPS and she couldn’t risk answering, let alone, taking it with her. Exiting the hotel, she looked at her car and remembered that too had a GPS as well. Without a car, she couldn’t go anywhere fast and without a phone, she couldn’t even call a cab. Biting her lip, she fought back tears realizing just how royally screwed she was. It was cold and snowing, so there was no way she could walk to the nearest airport without risk.
However, salvation came in the form of an old man who popped his head out of the building to start his car via remote control. Dumbfounded, Cassie stood there in awe at her good luck. Making sure the old man was out of sight, Cassie casually went over to the car and opened the door, hopping right in. Throwing her bags in the front seat, she sped away before the owner could come back.
Racing to the airport, Cassie slowed down to a near crawl when she saw a police car parked near the onramp. They could be one of Armand’s pet cops he had on the payroll, it was hard to tell. It seemed everyone was on his payroll. All of this paranoia made it hard to concentrate but she had to stay focused if she were to survive the night. When she reached the airport, Cassie called her brother Dominic who seemed shocked to hear the sound of her voice. “Cass what the hell? It’s two in the morning!” he said half asleep.
“Dom, I’m in trouble.” Cassie said near tears.
“What happened? Is everything alright?”
“No, no it’s not!” She said nearly whispering into the phone. “I killed Armand.”
“What the fuck Cass?!? Shit, this is serious! What the fuck were you thinking?”
“He found out about me and Joe.”
“Where ya at? I’ll come get ‘cha.”
“No, I don’t want you getting involved. It’s too dangerous.”
“So whatta ya gonna do?”
“I don’t know, I just don’t know.”
“Cass you’re scaring me, let me come over and we’ll talk about it.”
Recognizing that cold, callous tone in his voice, Cassie realized he had been turned. Why not? He had everything to lose, his reputation, his livelihood, and his life if he didn’t make this right by the Cosimos.
“It’s too late, I’m out.” Hanging up the phone, Cassandra looked at the ticket counter and bought several tickets to multiple cities confusing the ticket agent. Pretending to be a celeb, she said, “I don’t want the press following me.” The agent nodded her head in understanding although still confused by her identity.
Not knowing which flight she would board, Cassie sat down and stared at the tickets in her hands. When the flight for Las Vegas was announced, the decision was made, she got up and grabbed her bags and boarded the plane.
Looking behind her as she boarded, Cassie knew things would never be the same again. Trying to memorize the moment, she stared at her beloved Gotham, and openly wept. Feeling the frigid breeze on her cheek, she looked up at the clouds as they sprinkled fluffy snowflakes on her head. Tearing herself away from the airplane’s steps, one of the flight attendants asked, “Anything wrong Ma’am?”
“Yeah, everything.” Cassie answered as she came inside from the cold.
